About Us

Objectives of the Program
       The aim of the First and Emergency Aid program is; to educate the staff to be able to intervene in emergency situations. Our students are taught life-saving methods such as the maintenance and use of emergency equipment and tools, treatment, cardiac monitoring, defibrillation and intubation, and the application of these materials to the students. Our students are expected to apply what they know.
       The main objective of the program is to meet the paramedic need in the health sector and to educate technicians who will save lives by making necessary intervention to the patient in a knowledgeable, equipped and ethical manner.

Program Curriculum and Applications
        First and Emergency Aid Program education is at associate degree level for two years. In addition to the necessary theoretical and practical courses, students are required to do practical and summer internships at the Emergency Department and 112 Emergency Health Services Stations.

Required Qualifications
        For this, these people should take the Student Selection Examination held by OSYM Presidency and get enough points from the related field to be specified in the guide.

Graduates' Diploma and Title
         The graduates of the program are given the associate degree diploma and the title of “First and Emergency Aid Technician”.

Working Areas of Graduates
         First and Emergency Aid Technicians; all public and private health institutions, university hospitals, emergency aid and patient transport ambulances, medical staff, call control staff in command and control centers, and hospital emergency services as the field of health personnel. They also serve as ambulance drivers when necessary (after safe driving training).

What are the responsibilities of first and emergency aid technicians?
To use the accepted emergency medicines and fluids until reaching the hospital,
Oxygen application,
To perform endotracheal intubation,
To perform ECG recording and rhythm evaluation, to perform electrical treatments such as monitoring, defibrillation, cardioversion, external pacemaker application,
Trauma stabilization to ensure that the patient is ready for transplantation,
Ensuring the transportation of the patient with appropriate transportation techniques,
To perform wound closure and simple bleeding control,
Helping delivery in case of emergency birth,
Keeping the ambulance ready for use in terms of technical, medical equipment and materials,
To drive in an ambulance when necessary.
 
Vertical Transitions
          Upon successful completion of the Vertical Transfer Exam held by OSYM, students who have completed the program are entitled to enroll in an undergraduate program that is suitable for their preferred program. After the adaptation and four half-years of Bachelor's degree training in these programs, they are entitled to receive a bachelor's degree.
